Cinelli Model B

I picked this Cinelli Model B up at the Classic Rendezvous swap meet in Greensboro, NC.  She's a beauty under all that dirt and rust, just you watch.  The bike is built with some funky parts including the steel cottered Stronglight crank, Universal 61's, Cinelli Giro d' Italia bars and old-logo 1A stem, Unica saddle and Nitor seat post, green label Fiamme rims, Campy Velox rear derailleur, and Gran Sport hubs.  Some stuff will stay but some will go.  I am estimating the date of the frame at about 1967 or so.  I will include more pics at a later date, once I work my Mojo on her.

  1. It looks like the head badge is made of aluminium, did that appear earlier on Model B than SC?

The oldest SC I have seen with a aluminium badge dates from 1972.

    1. An old post, but this looks much like a Mod B that I bought used in '74. I never knew the year, but I think it must have been earlier than '72 and it had a metal head badge. I recall marveling at how detailed it was with all the different colors inlaid in the depressions of the metal and wondering how they did it. My Mod B was full Nuovo Record with Universal 61 centerpulls, Cinelli handlebars and stem and a Brooks Pro saddle. Rims were sewups (I think Fiamme red labels). Pedals were the black-caged Superleggera model. I've always thought it was the classiest bike I've ever owned, and I have some very nice bikes. If it had been 2 cm shorter, I never would have sold it. In '77 I tried to duplicate it with a touring Paramount in the same Flamboyant Red, but it wasn't even close to being as sporty and its bizarre geometry made it a worse fit than the Cinelli.
