This is the earlier model of the Austro Daimler Vent Noir. This one is equipped with a black Shimano Dura Ace group. Rims are gold anodized Fiamme red labels. The rear derailleur is a Shimano Crane. Bars are GB with map of Britain. Stem is black anodized GB. Seat post is Gipiemme topped with Selle San Marco GiLux saddle. Bike is completely original and in near new condition with original paint and decals.
Reminiscent of the black-and-gold John Player Special livery on racing cars of the same era. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing this bike so pristine. Mine's not so noir anymore. Repainted blue by Cathy Jo Teesdale in the 80s~. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI had this model. I saw it in Browns Cycles in Hersham in the UK. I had never seen a bike look that good. I was only a teenager but I saved up and bought it. The only thing I don't remember is the black stem. Unfortunately I crashed it and bent the frame.
ReplyDeleteOh my. Lust-worthy bike. Bought one of these in '77 or '78. Found it at a shop, listed at half price, probably because it was a 21" frame. Didn't realize it was too small for me, and shop owner was happy to get the sale. Sold it a few years later, but man, that was a sweet machine. So impressed with this one. Exactly like mine - exactly like new!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the serial number on this bike? What would you value it at?
ReplyDeleteSpectacular bike, one of the most beautiful ever, in my opinion. Lucky you!
